1. What can I expect at the first treatment?

At your first massage therapy treatment, you will be required to fill out a confidential health history form. This allows Jennifer to determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed before beginning treatment. You may print this form and fill it out by using the link under the Forms page.

Jennifer will perform an assessment based on the health history form and ask further questions to determine the type of treatment that will be best suited to you.

She will then instruct you on how to get on the table, and throughout the treatment will ask you for feedback regarding the amount of pressure and will check to make sure you are comfortable.

2. Do I have to remove all of my clothes?

No. If you are not comfortable disrobing, treatment will be altered to accomodate this situation. It is easier to provide treatment directly to the skin, however modifications can be made as client comfort is paramount.

The only area undraped during a treatment is the area of the body being worked on.  Treatment will always be professional and respectful. If at any time you are uncomfortable with treatment or draping please let Jennifer know and modifications will be made.

3. Will I be sore after the treatment?

After a massage therapy treatment most people feel relaxed and even a little tired. It is possible to have some tenderness and it is often advised to drink plenty of water and take an epsom salt bath to help the body flush the toxins out of the system.

4. Does OHIP cover Massage Therapy Treatments?

The services of a Registered Massage Therapist are not covered under OHIP.

5. Does my extended health plan cover my massage therapy treatments?

Many insurance plans cover massage therapy treatments provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). Some plans may require a note form your medical doctor, so it is best to check with your company regarding their policies.

6. How long should I book my appointment for?

If you are receiving massage therapy for the first time it is best to book for a one hour appointment. This allows Jennifer time to go over the health history form, complete her assessment, discuss the treatment and answer any questions you may have, ensuring time for hands on treatment.

Typically an hour long appointment will allow the therapist to work on legs, back, arms, neck. A half hour appointment is more focused on one particular area- back and neck or legs.

7. How often do I need to come?

This will vary from person to person. Determining factors will be the affected area, type of injury, severity of injury and goals of the client. A general guideline for maintenance is one treatment per month. You can discuss your personal treatment plan with Jennifer at your appointment.

8. What type of payment is accepted?

Our clinic accepts Cash, Debit, Visa, Mastercard, and gift certificates. Payment is expected at the end of treatment and a receipt will be issued to you.
